How to Create an Automated Daily To-Do List in Notion

Start by creating a new database in Notion to act as your master task list. Add a Date property to track when tasks occur and a Status property to mark items as complete or in progress. This structure ensures that your data remains organized and searchable over time.

Next, create a database template to standardize your daily layout. Click the arrow next to the New button in the top right of your database and select New template. Inside this template, add the checkboxes, prompts, or sections you want to appear every single day, such as a priority list or a gratitude section.

To automate the process, set a repeat rule for your template. Click the three dots next to your created template in the menu and select Repeat. Choose the Daily option and set the specific time you want Notion to automatically generate a new page, such as 5:00 AM every morning.

Now you need to organize your view so you only see the current day's tasks. Create a new view of your database and apply a filter. Set the filter to show only pages where the Date property is Today. This prevents your workspace from becoming cluttered with old entries.

For a more advanced setup, consider linking this database to other project boards. By adding a Relation property, you can connect your automated daily tasks to larger goals or long-term projects, allowing you to track progress across different levels of detail.

Finally, test your automation by setting the repeat time for a few minutes in the future. Once the page generates automatically, verify that your filters are working correctly. You can then adjust the timing and content of your template as your daily routine evolves.
