How to Create a Professional Portfolio Website Using Notion

Notion is a versatile tool that allows users to build a functional portfolio without needing any coding knowledge. To begin, create a new page and give it a clear title, such as your name followed by your professional role. Set the page layout to full width in the settings menu to ensure your content has enough room to breathe and looks balanced on larger screens.

Organize your work using a Gallery database, which is the most effective way to showcase visual projects. This layout allows you to display project thumbnails that act as portals to detailed sub-pages. Each card in the gallery should feature a high-quality cover image and a brief title to give visitors an immediate sense of your capabilities.

Inside each project page, provide a comprehensive breakdown of your process. Explain the goals of the project, the specific tools you used, and the final results achieved. Adding screenshots, embedded videos, or links to live sites helps demonstrate your skills more effectively than simple text descriptions.

Create a dedicated section for your biography and contact information. Use a simple text block for your introduction and include direct links to your LinkedIn profile, GitHub, or professional email. Adding a high-resolution professional headshot at the top of the page helps build trust and adds a personal touch to your digital presence.

Refine the aesthetics of your site using Notion's built-in icons and cover images. Consistency in color schemes and image styles ensures the portfolio looks cohesive and intentional. Avoid cluttering the page with too many widgets or contrasting fonts to maintain a clean, professional feel that directs focus toward your work.

Once your content is ready, use the Share menu to enable public access. Toggle on the Web Publish option to generate a live URL that can be shared with recruiters or clients. While the default Notion link works well, you can also connect a custom domain through third-party services to give your portfolio a more branded and polished appearance.
