How to Create an Automated Daily Task List in Notion

To begin creating an automated task list, start by building a new database in Notion. Select the Table view for the best organization and add essential properties such as a Date field and a Status checkbox. This structure ensures that every task generated has a specific timeframe and a way to track completion.

Next, you need to create a database template. Click the arrow next to the blue New button in the top right corner of your database and select New template. Give this template a name like Daily Checklist and use the page body to list the recurring habits or tasks you perform every day.

Once the template is saved, you can enable the automation. Go back to the template menu, click the three dots next to your Daily Checklist template, and select Repeat. Choose the Daily frequency and set the specific time you want the task list to appear in your database each morning.

To keep your workspace clean, create a filtered view of your database. Set a filter where the Date property is equal to Today. This ensures that you only see the tasks for the current day rather than a long list of every task ever generated by the automation.

If you have different routines for weekends and weekdays, you can create multiple repeating templates. For example, set one template for Monday through Friday and another separate template that only triggers on Saturdays and Sundays to accommodate your changing schedule.

Finally, test your setup by checking your database the following morning. By automating the creation of your daily list, you remove the friction of manual planning and can focus immediately on executing your most important tasks.
