Finding Purpose in God's Calling

We are all searching for purpose. We look around us and see the world full of challenges, struggles, and endless to-do lists. It can feel overwhelming to know what our "calling" is or even where to begin to answer that question. But God's love extends a hand out, offering us something more than we could ever imagine: purpose, designed for each of us by the one who created us.

The Bible speaks volumes about this beautiful truth. Psalm 37:4 says, "Delight yourself also in the Lord, and he shall give you the desires of your heart." God is full of love and joy that transcends what we can even fathom. He wants to pour his purpose into our hearts and empower us for life!

What does this look like in practice? It might be in the ways we spend our time, the relationships we build, or the service we offer. It might be a calling within your heart to care for your children, to advocate for justice, to explore a creative passion, or simply to be a good neighbor. These are all opportunities to live out God’s love and purpose in our own lives.

Finding true purpose is about surrendering to God's plan for us. Sometimes we're called to big things – building communities, leading others, fighting injustice. Other times, it might be as simple as caring for a sick neighbor or sharing a smile with someone who needs one.

We can look at the stories in the Bible to see how God's purpose is often revealed in surprising ways:

God’s purpose for us isn’t just about “doing something.” It’s about who we are and how we interact with him. We see this beautifully revealed through Jesus’ own words, "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:32) The truth is that God's love for us is unconditional, and our purpose is to live out that love in every aspect of life.

So how can we find our calling?

  1. Listen to God’s voice: Open your heart and mind to God’s guidance through prayer and meditation.
  2. Study the Bible: Let the scriptures teach you about who you are, what God has called you to, and how He works in this world.
  3. Live a life of service and kindness: This is a powerful way to express God's purpose and impact others in your community.

Remember, finding purpose isn’t just about discovering the "right" path for us – it's about embracing a life that reflects who God has called us to be. When we surrender our lives to him, we discover purpose, love, and meaning through the journey of faith and service.
